What does average position mean?

When an AI answer lists several brands, each one has a position: 1 means named first, 2 second, and so on.

Average position is the average of your positions across the answers that mention you. Lower is better.

Good to know

• Answers that don't mention you are not counted. Average position tells you how prominent you are when you appear; visibility tells you how often you appear.
• That means a brand mentioned once, in first place, can have a better average position than a brand mentioned often in third place. Always read position together with visibility.
• You can compare positions per AI engine under Performance by platform on Mentions.
