URL Tracking follows individual pages, such as a new article, a product page or a page you just updated, and shows whether AI engines cite them, how often and for which prompts.
Why it matters
When you publish or improve a page, you want to know if it worked. Overall visibility moves slowly and has many causes. URL Tracking tells you directly whether a specific page is being used as a source.
How it works
We check your tracked prompts' AI answers for citations of the pages you add. Tracking a URL doesn't use extra AI answers.
Each page shows a status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Calculating | Just added; we're processing its data |
| Cited | It has been cited in at least one AI answer |
| Not cited yet | No AI answer has cited it so far |
What you'll see
For each URL:
- Citations: how many times it was cited
- AI Answers: how many answers cited it
- Citation Share: its share of citations
- Last cited: the most recent citation
Expand a URL to see Platform Performance (citations by AI engine), Geography (by country) and Prompts Citing This URL. Click View responses to read the answers that cited it.
How to use it
- Open URL Tracking and click Track URL.
- Enter the complete page address, starting with
https://, and confirm. You need the editor role or higher. - Check back as your prompts run. Filter by status, platform or country.
To stop tracking a page, open its menu and click Remove from tracking.
Tips
- Track a page as soon as you publish it. You'll see the first day it's cited.
- Track the pages behind your suggestions to see whether the changes worked.
- "Not cited yet" isn't a failure. AI engines need time to find and trust new pages, often weeks.
FAQ
Why is my page still "Not cited yet"? Either AI engines haven't picked it up yet, or it isn't the best answer to the prompts you track. Make sure the page directly answers one of your prompts, and that AI crawlers can reach it. Our free AI Crawlability Checker can help.
Can I track competitors' pages? URL Tracking is meant for your own pages. To see which competitor pages AI cites, use the URLs view on Mentions.
